‘Jim the Fisherman’, 84, longtime resident of Burbank California passed away Tuesday May 10th. Jim is survived by his wife Nola R Honaker, his son, John “Randy” Honaker of Bend Oregon, his daughter, Sheri Nill of Henderson Nevada, his two Stepdaughters Dawn Hammond of Quartz Hill, CA and Terry Castleberry of Cambria CA. Jim was blessed to be the grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Jim worked for more than 40 years as an engineer with a number of Aerospace contractors; Litton, Boeing, Northrup and Rockwell. When he was not working, Jim was an avid fisherman and spoke fondly of the years he belonged to the Litton fishing club. Active in his church, he and his wife were long time members of the Magnolia Park United Methodist church in Burbank CA. Most recently, Jim was a member of the First Henderson United Methodist Church of Henderson Nevada. Jim loved the old hymns and sang with the Sweet Adeline’s as they weekly visited local convalescent hospitals. A lifelong Bridge player, Jim enjoyed visiting the various Senior Centers playing bridge and making new friends accompanied by his ever faithful caregiver Joanie Baca.

Services will be Friday May 13th at 3pm at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills California followed by a time of fellowship at 6pm at the Magnolia Park United Methodist Church, 2828 Magnolia Blvd. Burbank California. On Wednesday May 18th at 2pm, a memorial will be held at the First Henderson United Methodist Church for our Henderson Friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Associate for research and a cure.
