Wednesday night power outage affects 1,600 customers

Roughly 1,600 customers were affected by a power outage Wednesday in the city’s Oakmont neighborhood, Glendale Water & Power reported today.

Officials say they are investigating the source of the outage, which occurred at 6:37 p.m. and was likely caused by a cable failure.

“It’s a pretty common outage,” said Atineh Haroutunian, public benefits coordinator for the utility.

Power was restored within one hour for nearly half of the affected area, with a remaining 875 customers without power for about four hours, she added.
