Heat and humidity to blanket Southern California

Southern California is in for another hot and humid day Wednesday with temperatures expected to reach up to 88 degrees in Los Angeles and the high 90s in the Antelope Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Mountains and desert areas have a slight chance of thunderstorms and a flash-flood watch has been issued for those areas starting at 10 a.m. and lasting though the evening.

The Los Angeles area should get some relief from the heat starting Friday, said Bonnie Bartling, weather specialist with the weather service.

“We’re looking at cooling temperatures on Friday and returning possibly to some marine layer along the coast,” she said.
