Alvin “Al” LaRoy Gustafson, died at the age of 84 years in Roseville, CA on July 10, 2011. Born in Beresford, South Dakota on June 5, 1927. Son of Albin & Ella Gustafson, immigrants from Sweden.

Enlisted in the U.S. Naval Service in 1945 and served in the Asiatic Pacific Area where he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He married Josephine Steele in 1952. They settled in La Canada to raise their family. Al held the executive position of Assistant Secretary for Southern California Edison and his signature is seen on SCE stock certificates. He was an active member of La Canada First Presbyterian.

Al, Josephine and their daughter, Joyce retired to Grass Valley in Northern California in 1988 to be closer to their son’s family. He is proceeded in death by beloved daughter Joyce; brothers Virgil, Elmer and sister, Albina; niece Joan Brewer and great nephew Matthew Brewer. Survived by wife Josephine, Son & daughter in-law David and Karla with grandchildren Kaitlyn and Marshall in Granite Bay, CA; Nieces Patricia Moore in Fremont, CA, Karen Habib in San Marino CA, Linda Olsen in West Hills, CA and nephew Craig Gustafson in Cave Junction, Or along with many grand nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Hooper & Weaver in Nevada City on Friday, July 15th at 11:00. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s organization. For more information, 916 791-6542
