Hoover High School
Summer school at Hoover is in full swing. The first semester is complete and second semester is underway. After a brief August break, the 2011-2012 school year begins Monday, Aug. 29.
Program Distribution for all students will be Monday, Aug. 22 through Wednesday, Aug. 24. Program Distribution information is available on the Hoover website, by grade, at hooverhs.org.
There is also a reminder that all students entering grades 7 through 12 will be required to show proof of a Tdap booster shot before starting school in the Fall of 2011. The Hoover PTSA wishes all parents and students a fun, relaxing and safe summer!
Toll Middle School
Toll Middle School is looking forward to an exciting new school year. The Toll PTA would like to welcome Mr. Bill Card as Toll’s new principal this year. Mr. Card comes to Toll with vast experience and dedication.
The PTA membership drive has begun at Toll. The goal this year is 100% participation. The Toll Drill team auditions have been concluded. Franklin is saying farewell to our beloved principal, Mr. Stephen Williams, wishing him well as he moves to Lincoln Elementary School.
This year our school theme is “The Year of the Volunteer” and all Franklin families are challenged to donate at least five hours a year to the school. There will be a Volunteer Fair at New Parent Orientation and at Back to School Night. Think about how you can get involved this year and remember to join the PTA. Franklin expects 100% or more in membership again this year.
We are excited to welcome our incoming Spanish, Italian, and German kindergarten families as they add to the Dual Immersion programs at Franklin, and hope they enjoy their summer here. To volunteer, please contact Franklin at (818) 243-1809.
Jefferson is gearing up for the new school year with a Uniform sale scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 25 and 26. Also the Jefferson PTA will be serving breakfast to Jefferson teachers and staff on Aug. 26 at a time to be announced. To volunteer, call Jefferson at (818) 243-4279.
The PTA is hard at work planning this year’s events. The Sixth Grade Activities Committee is recruiting sixth grade parents and preparing for the student store. Balboa will be encouraging students to wear uniforms for this school year. It is not yet mandatory, but is encouraged. To volunteer, please contact Balboa at (818) 241-1801.
Mark Keppel Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School already has many events planned. Save room in your calendar for the Back to School Picnic, scheduled for a date to be announced in September. Also look for upcoming details about Keppel’s Harvest Festival and much more.
