Above-average heat to peak Tuesday, then cool off

Forecasters are expecting above-average temperatures across the Los Angeles region to peak Tuesday, then cool off as the week progresses.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 86 in downtown Los Angeles, temperatures in the mid-90s in the valleys and the upper 70s along the coast.

Things will cool down starting Wednesday, with a low-pressure “trough” dropping the mercury by several degrees and a sea breeze bringing moisture and partly cloudy conditions to the beaches, said weather specialist Bonnie Bartling.

Temperatures are expected to climb again by the weekend as milder weather gives way to a warm, high-pressure system. L.A. NOW
