Marion Helen Ryan

Marion Helen Ryan was born in Thedford, Nebraska in 1922. From her modest beginnings being raised in a sod house and riding to school on horseback, she found a new life for herself at age 15 when her family moved to Glendale, CA. She attended Glendale High School where she met her husband, Jack Ryan. She attended beauty school and enjoyed working as a beautician for 40 years. Most of those 40 years she worked at Valley Beauty Salon on Ocean View Blvd. in Montrose. In 1949, she and her husband bought a house in La Crescenta and resided there for the rest of their lives.

Marion devoted her life to her family and enjoyed simple activities such as knitting, sewing, cooking, and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Kappen, son-in-law Terry Kappen both of La Crescenta; Granddaughter, Tracy Passerelle; Grandson-in-law, Jak Passerelle; Great-Grandson, Jaxson Passerelle, all from San Diego; Grandson, Travis Kappen, from Montrose, and sister Ann Pekarovich, from Reno NV.

Marion will be laid to rest with her husband in the high Sierra Nevada Mountains.
