77-year-old man rescued from Deukmejian Wilderness Park
A 77-year-old man had be airlifted out of a Deukmeijian Wilderness Park on Sunday after he fell 40 feet into a ravine, suffering minor injuries.
The man, who was not immediately identified, had been hiking the Loop Trail in 709-acre wilderness park when he fell and became disoriented, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
He was able to make a cell phone call to his wife, who relayed the incident to Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The Montrose Search and Rescue Team and a rescue helicopter were able to reach the hiker several hours later. He was airlifted back to the command post and treated for minor injuries, according the sheriff’s department.
