Neighborhoods gear up for National Night Out events

Thousands of residents -- from Burbank to the foothills and South Glendale -- are expected to take to the streets this evening for National Night Out.

More than 1,000 people are expected to converge on Burbank’s Chandler Bikeway for the main city-sponsored Night Out event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. between Keystone and Brighton streets. Mayor Jess Talamantes and other city officials are scheduled to show up as residents mingle with police officers, who will be encouraging Neighborhood Watch and other community policing strategies.
