Virginia Mae Marx

Virginia Mae Marx, 74, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2011 with family at her side at Kaiser Permanente Sunset in Los Angeles, California.

Virginia was born in Farr, Colorado to Joseph and Christine Marvelli and resided in Walsenburg, Colorado until 1950 when she moved to North Hollywood, California. She graduated from North Hollywood High in 1955 and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1959 with a music degree. She married in 1960, began raising a family in 1962, and moved to Burbank in 1967 where she resided until her passing. Her passion was family, friends, faith, music, teaching and traveling. She taught primarily instrumental music in both the Burbank Unified School District and in La Canada Flintridge for approximately 20 years, provided private piano lessons for over 40 years, and as a pianist, enjoyed being an accompanist for the Burbank Choral Club during the 1970s, holding recitals for her students, and most recently, being part of the Premier Trio.

Survived by her three sons, James (fiancée Katherine), John (Elena) and Steven (Michelle), six grandchildren, Kasmira, Zachary, Tanisha, Tanner, Juliana and Austin, by her sister Teresa, her two nephews Jerry Dunn and Ed Kasaba (Peggy), by her five nieces Terry Kahn (Leonard), Marie Kuhlman (Dennis), Marilyn Toronto (Rick), Regina Famularo (Vince) and Kathy Kasaba, by her great nieces and nephews, and by her close friends. Virginia was predeceased by her mother Christine Marvelli, sister Katherine Dunn and brother Nathaniel Marvelli.

A rosary will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home in Burbank. Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo at 10:00 a.m. in North Hollywood, California followed by a procession to Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
