Firefighters on Saturday rescued a 70-year-old woman who broke her leg while hiking and falling on trail in Brand Park, officials said.

Glendale Fire received a call about 10:04 a.m. from the injured woman after she hurt her leg during a hike in the mountains above the park, officials said.

Firefighters rescued the woman from the trail and transported her to Glendale Adventist Medical Center, where she was treated, officials said.

Fire officials reminded hikers to carry a cell phone while hiking. They also advised residents to hike with a partner, or to tell someone about their destination.
