Local jobless rates climb in July

Local unemployment figures continued to climb in July.

In Glendale, the unemployment rates rose to 11.6%, up from 10.8% in June. The rate in Burbank jumped to 10.8% from 10.1% the month prior, according to the state Economic Development Department.

Both rates were lower than the state’s 12% unemployment rate.

In Pasadena, the jobless rate was 10.2%.

Employment in the motion picture industry increased another 1% in July, following the same percentage hike in June.

In La Crescenta-Montrose, the unemployment rate increased to 6.6% from 6.1% in June, while La Cañada Flintridge reported a 5.2% rate, a rise from 4.8%.
