Earlier this week, the Burbank Fire Department held a “Badge Pinning Ceremony,” honoring the promotions of Travont “Tray” White and of Jason Murphy, who rose to the ranks of captain and engineer, respectively.

In addition, Captain Peter Hendrickson was named to the Fire Prevention Bureau, making him the department’s official spokesman.

White was hired in September 1997, became a permanent firefighter in 1998, became a provisional engineer in 2007, and promoted to probationary Engineer in 2008. He became a provisional captain in 2010 and then a permanent engineer in 2011 before his latest promotion. Family members, including his wife Keily and his three daughters, joined him during the ceremonies.

Murphy became a permanent firefighter in August 2002. He has also worked as a paramedic since 2006, and has been on the Hazmat Squad. His new badge was pinned by his wife Jennifer while his two kids looked on.

Peter has been with the Burbank Fire Department since 1979, and working in several positions, always maintaining his paramedic skills. He’s been in charge of Burbank’s USAR Team, Critical Stress Management Team, and a board member of Firefighters Local 778, where he held the position of vice president for 14 years. Hendrickson resides in Burbank along with his wife Lisa and two kids.

As captain of the Fire Prevention Bureau, Peter oversees issues regarding studio productions in the city. In his role as public education officer, Peter will be responsible for Fire Service Day, Fire Camp, and public education.

He says one of his goals is to get the department up to speed with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. In addition, as the official voice of the department, he will connect with media representatives at the scenes of emergencies, and keep the public informed regarding news from the department.
