A man was shot in northwest Glendale Tuesday evening, but is expected to recover, police said.

The wounded man and his friends appeared at Providence Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Witnesses called police about 8 p.m., reporting hearing gunshots and vehicles fleeing the scene.

Officers arrived to the 1000 block of Justin Avenue, but were unable to find a victim and shooter.

Multiple vehicles were seen fleeing the scene, Lorenz said.

“It’s just too early to tell,” he said of the suspect’s description.

Glendale police notified nearby law enforcement agencies and hospitals immediately after the shooting.

Soon after, they received information about the gunshot victim at the Burbank hospital, Lorenz said.

Detectives and forensic investigators were at the scene interviewing witnesses and gathering clues.
