A man who was allegedly approached by an officer Tuesday night at the Fry’s Electronics parking lot in Burbank led police on a chase before crashing into the entrance of Valhalla Cemetery.

Edvard Takhmazyan, 31, of Sunland was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly possessing heroine and driving under the influence, Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick said.

At about 10:30 p.m., a police officer came upon Takhmazyan who was sitting in his car in the Fry’s parking lot after the store closed.

Kendrick said the officer saw heroine in plain sight, and that Takhmazyan handed it over.

“After a short conversation, he rolled up the window, backed up and almost struck the officer,” Kendrick said.

After a car chase, Takhmazyan suffered a torn toenail and possibly a broken ankle after allegedly trying to scale the wrought iron gates at Valhalla Cemetery in attempt to flee. Burbank paramedics treated the man at the scene after police subdued him with a Taser gun.

Takhmazyan was taken to a local hospital for treatment prior to being booked.
