Former Santa Clarita building inspector allegedly accepted more than $30,000 in bribes

A former building inspector for Santa Clarita will be arraigned later this month on charges that he accepted more than $30,000 in bribes in exchange for signing off on construction permits, authorities announced today.

Craig Allen Ingraham, 58, is scheduled to be arraigned on seven counts of accepting bribes and one count of issuing a fraudulent check, according to the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

Between March 2007 and Decemeber 2008, Ingraham allegedly accepted cash, cigars, a sink and vanity and a $29,000-loan. The district attorney’s office also alleges that the Country Canyon resident issued a $30,600 check despite knowing he lacked sufficient funds.

Ingraham, who no longer works for Santa Clarita, was arrested Sept. 1 and released after posting $50,000 bond, according to sheriff’s department.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years, eight months in state prison, according to the district attorney’s office.
