Verdugo Hills High School, which primarily serves the Sunland-Tujunga area, has a new principal.

Edward Trimis took the helm last week after serving as principal at Manual Arts and Polytechnic high schools in Los Angeles Unified.

At Verdugo Hills High, Trimis oversees more than 1,800 students and about 85 teachers, according to announcement from the school.

In a statement, Trimis said the new assignment was a bit of a homecoming.

“The opportunity to work in the community where I’ve lived for 30 years and where my kids grew up is a dream come true,” he said.
