Hot temperatures should peak today

A three-day warming trend should peak today, with temperatures possibly hitting 102 degrees in local valley areas, according to the National Weather Service.

In Pasadena and the foothills, temperatures should hover in the high-90s.

The high-pressure system behind the heat is expected to move on starting Friday, making way for a cooling trend through the weekend. Daytime highs will fall back into the 80s until early next week, according to the weather service.
