Police are looking for a man who broke into a South Glendale home on Friday and dragged a 63-year-old woman from room to room as he searched for valuables, officials said.

The woman didn’t sustain any visible injuries during the robbery, which occurred about 2:20 p.m. at her home on the 1000 block of Virginia Place, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

The woman had just returned home from the grocery store and was sitting in the living room when she saw the robber approach from the kitchen, according to Glendale police reports.

She immediately ran toward the front door to flee and managed to open it, but the man pulled her back inside the home.

As he gripped her arm, he threatened to hurt the woman as he dragged her from room to room demanding money and jewelry, police said.

But before they entered the bedrooms, she screamed loudly, prompting the man to release her and flee out the back door.

“One would think this is probably not his first burglary,” Lorenz said.

Residents notified police of suspicious activity about two weeks ago in the Chevy Chase Canyon neighborhood after reportedly seeing two men running through their home backyards, Lorenz said.

Shortly after the report, police arrived in the area and found an unoccupied home was burglarized, but no one was arrested, he added.

Lorenz said detectives were investigating any possible connection.

The woman described the man as black, about 25 years old, about 5 foot 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He wore a black baseball cap, black T-shirt with large letters and black pants.
