Lawrence Lindensmith

Lawrence Lindensmith, 82, passed in his sleep on Sunday October 23, 2011 in Rancho Cucamonga. Lawrence was a long time resident of Hesperia where he lived until a few month ago.

Lawrence was born in Chicago Illinois on January 23, 1929. Lawrence was the youngest of 2 boys born to James and Marcella Lindensmith. Lawrence attended Calumet High School in Chicago, upon graduation the family moved to California. They originally settled in Glendale California.

After settling in to Southern California, he attended Glendale community college, while attending GCC he joined the Army. His unit was deployed to fight in the Korean conflict. Lawrence received an honourable discharged after serving for 2 years in active duty.

The next step in his life was to complete college on the GI bill. He did this by attending Cal State Los Angeles. He was very active at the school as the editor of the CSULA new paper and year book his senior year. He graduated with double major in English and Industrial Art and completed his teaching credential the next year.

Lawrence taught English and Woodworking for 30+ years in the Glendale Unified School district before retiring.

Lawrence met his wife Patricia while attending Glendale Community College, they were soon married. They were married 57 years at the time of his passing.

Lawrence is survived by his Wife Patricia, 2 sons Terrence (Diana) and Michael (June). He had 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Jacob and Matthew. He also had 2 great grandchildren, Aiden and Jason.

Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hesperia, CA on Friday November 4th at 10:00 am.
