Valley Democratic group backs Brad Sherman in new District 30 race

Results are in for an early test of grass-roots party support in the high-decibel clash between Democratic Reps. Howard Berman and Brad Sherman, and the advantage goes to Sherman.

The Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley voted Monday night to back Sherman, of Sherman Oaks, over his longer-serving colleague, Berman, of Valley Village, in next year’s election for the newly drawn 30th Congressional District. Politics watchers are expecting this intraparty fight to become one of the costliest House races in history.
