Leona (Montagna) Dukes, of Tujunga, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 in the comfort of her home with her family. She passed away, after a yearlong battle, with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer that affects the gallbladder.

Born on November 15th, 1947, in Pittston, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Loretta and Russell Montagna. Leona and her family moved from Pittston to Glendale, California in the mid 1950s.

She was a graduate of Glendale High School and then went on to Cosmetology School. She worked as a hairdresser for 33 years and was the proud owner of Hair West in Montrose for 12 years. Hair West is where she met her husband of 20 years. In her second career, she went in real estate of her love of beautiful homes. She spent 18 great years working with ERA Castle and Dilbeck Realtors.

Leona was a special wife, mother and grandmother. She touched everyone she met with her heart of gold, grace and elegance. She will be missed by all, and will be remembered forever.

She is survived by her husband, Garry; daughter, Michelle Buttitta; son-in-law, Tony Buttitta; granddaughter, Madison; along with lots of other inherited grandchildren.

A rosary service will be held on Monday, November 14 at 7 p.m. at Cabot & Sons in Pasadena. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 15th at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Glendale.
