Glendale police search for Pier 1 Imports burglary suspect [Updated]

Glendale police have deployed K-9 units and a helicopter in their search for a burglary suspect who fled Pier 1 Imports when an employee confronted him, officials said.

The burglary occurred this morning on the 500 block of North Glendale Avenue, police said.

The employee entered the store this morning and discovered the burglar holding a crowbar, police said. The suspect fled into the neighborhood, prompting an extensive police search.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.

[Updated 11:28 a.m.: The employee told police she was sitting inside the store’s office about 7:29 a.m. when she heard a man trying smash open a back door. When she went to the back door, she saw the man holding a crowbar and made eye contact with him, police said.

She ran to the office, but the man had already fled into the neighborhood.

The suspect was described as about 5 foot 11 inches tall, in his late 20s to early 30s and with a medium build. He was wearing blue jeans, a black baggy T-shirt with possibly a long-sleeved shirt underneath and black baseball cap.]
