Black Friday means better traffic flow at the Glendale Galleria

Share

While traffic congestion around most malls is worse on Black Friday weekend, the flow on streets around the Glendale Galleria was better last year compared to weekends in December 2010, according to statistics from a major manufacturer of automotive navigation systems.

The Galleria ranked seventh among malls with better traffic flow on Black Friday weekend, according to information from TomTom.

Mall of America in Minneapolis topped the list, followed by South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and NorthPark Center in Dallas.

TomTom found the average speed around the Galleria was 30.3 mph on weekends during December 2010, but the average speed on Black Friday weekend was 45 mph.

TomTom officials said they don’t know why traffic flow was better locally last year on Black Friday weekend.

Southpark Mall in Charlotte, N.C., topped the list of the 10 most congested malls on Black Friday weekend in 2010, followed by Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia and Freehold Raceway Mall in Trenton, N.J.
