Schools get ready for the holidays

Hoover High School: Begin your holiday celebration at the 54th annual Hoover Tour of Homes on Saturday, Dec. 10. Four outstanding Glendale-area homes will be decorated for the holidays. The tour includes a complimentary tea, country kitchen bake sale and performances by Hoover music groups. Cookies for the tea are made by the Hoover Culinary students, and bake sale goods are homemade by Hoover parents and alumni. Tickets are $20 in advance, available at Hoover High School and Kenneth Village merchants. Tickets will be sold the day of the tour at each home for $25.

Hoover’s December PTSA meeting begins at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, in room 12101. Join us for a potluck meal, a holiday celebration and fun, free raffle.

Toll Middle School

Toll Middle School did its part to help First Lady Michelle Obama create awareness about exercise. Toll students did jumping jacks Nov. 15, for one minute, to help break a Guinness World Record.

Please participate in Toll’s Lexus fundraiser. Students are selling $15 vouchers for car washes at Lexus on Brand Boulevard, and all proceeds go to Toll. The fundraiser ends Dec. 15. All students have order forms, or you can get them at the front office.

The Thanksgiving holiday started Monday. Students return to school Monday, Nov. 28. To volunteer, contact Toll Middle School at (818) 244-8414.

Franklin Elementary

Franklin students are enjoying their Thanksgiving recess. Students return to school Monday, Nov. 28.

Franklin is holding its Holiday PTA meeting at 6:30 on Tuesday, Dec.13, in the auditorium. The Franklin Chorus will be performing. The Montrose Christmas Parade is at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3. To volunteer, contact Franklin at (818) 243-1809 or email jenfreemon@yahoo.com.

Jefferson Elementary

Students return to school from the Thanksgiving holiday on Monday, Nov. 28.

The Jefferson PTA thanks everyone who participated in the school fundraiser. Whether you worked to organize it or purchased items, your participation is much appreciated. To volunteer, call Jefferson at (818) 243-4279.

Balboa Elementary

Thanks to everyone who donated to the annual Balboa PTA Food Drive, helping those in need.

On Nov. 5, Balboa PTA hosted a “Reflections Gala” where artwork from all students was displayed. This year’s theme was “Diversity Means.” The Thanksgiving holiday started Monday. Students return to school Monday, Nov. 28. Balboa’s annual Holiday Shoppe will be held Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9.

Keppel Elementary

Students return to school from the Thanksgiving holiday Monday, Nov. 28. Please remember to bring a new unwrapped toy for the Holiday Toy Drive starting Tuesday, Nov. 29. You may drop toys off at the Virginia gate or at the office. Also, the products from the Genevieve Fundraiser will be sent home with students on Nov. 29.
