3 dead, 2 wounded in rampage at Edison’s Irwindale office

A gunman with a rifle opened fire at a Southern California Edison office in Irwindale on Friday, killing two employees and wounding two others before taking his own life.

One of the victims died at the scene and the other died on the way to the hospital. The conditions of the two other victims were not immediately available, said Capt. Michael Taylor of the Baldwin Park Police Department, which is helping with the investigation.

A source said the gunman was also an employee at the Edison building who worked as as systems analyst. His name was not released.

At least some of the victims were supervisors at Edison.

Employees hunkered down in locked offices after the gunman opened fire.

An employee told The Times that he and others locked the door to their office and put office equipment in front of it in hopes of preventing the gunman from getting in.
