Joan Marie Harmon, 78, a long time resident of Burbank, Ca passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 in Ventura, California. Joan was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 22, 1933. She was the beloved wife of the late John Francis Harmon.

Joan is survived by her siblings, Edward Kilduff (Walnut Creek, Ca), Mary O’Neil (Torrance, Ca), Margaret Kilduff (Lima, Peru), William Kilduff (Ventura, Ca), Louise Lynch (Fremont, Ca), and James Kilduff (Andover, CT). Joan is also survived by her children, John (Joan) Harmon of Castaic, Ca, Mark (Cheryl) Harmon of Orange, Ca, Marian Russell of Hawaii, Tom (Doreen) Harmon of South Pasadena, Ca, Andy (Laurie) Harmon of Burbank, Ca, and Julie (Gar) McLaughlin of Parrish, New York. Joan will be remembered by her 15 grandchildren and one great grandson who all love her very much.

Joan was a registered nurse for a Burbank pediatrician for many years. She was also an active member of Saint Francis Xavier Church and enjoyed serving those around her. Joan and her husband volunteered their time for many years at the Burbank Temporary Aid Center and continued that service until her move to Ventura last year. Joan loved the outdoors (especially the ocean) and was a gifted artist who also enjoyed playing bridge with close friends. Although her schedule was always full, she rarely missed her children’s and grand children’s sporting events, school events, birthdays, musicals, etc.

Those of us who knew and loved Joan will remember her as a kind and compassionate person with unwavering convictions and religious beliefs. She taught us all the importance of faith and family, and was a role model in so many ways. Joan will be deeply missed, but will live on in all of our hearts. A service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 am at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burbank. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to BTAC. 1304 West Burbank Blvd. Burbank, CA 91506.
