License fees will reduce shelter visits

Share

I agree with Karen Kamradt’s Jan. 23 letter “Fee increase for dog license too steep.”

In essence, she gets “penalized” for doing the right thing (licensing her four rescue dogs) and now has to pay the increase on top of that. Granted, it is difficult to round up the unlicensed dogs, but the scales seem tipped here and not in her favor.

Could the City Council let her know what she gets for her money? And what the incentive is for doing so?

She’s right, this will dissuade others from visiting the shelter and that’s the greatest shame of all.
