Lyle Louise (Joesting) Hanson passed away in Glendale, CA on January 26, 2012 after complications from a brief illness.

Born on August 1, 1938, in Butte, Montana to the late Harold and Louise Joesting, Lyle moved to San Marino as a young girl. She graduated from San Marino High School and the University of California, Berkeley.

Lyle met her husband of fifty-one years, Larry Hanson, when she was visiting at her mother’s Pasadena home for the summer from college. Larry’s parents lived in the same apartment complex. She knocked on the door and asked to borrow sugar to make chocolate chip cookies. Larry agreed to the loan on the condition of samples of the finished product. The cookies must have been good - - they were married in San Marino on July 2, 1960.

After graduation from Berkeley, Lyle started in the travel industry. She worked for AAA, Japan Airlines and then on to several other travel companies over her career. Her love and knowledge of travel benefited her family as she planned wonderful vacations all over the world. She and Larry travelled to five continents together. Lyle’s other passion was reading and a stack of books could always be found nearby.

Lyle is survived by her sister, Janet McFedries, her husband of fifty-one years, Larry Hanson, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Scott Allison, and her ten-year old granddaughters Eva and Hannah Allison -- who were her greatest joy.

A memorial service will be held in late June with details to be announced. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cabotandsonsfh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Glendale Foundation for the Retarded or the Glendale College Foundation.
