Burbank police today issued a warning after three young girls said a man tried to pick them up in his truck as they walked home on Wednesday.

The girls, ages 10 and 11, flagged down police officers at about 4:25 p.m. after running away from the man in the 500 block of East Cypress Avenue.

The girls told officers that the man, who appeared to be in his 40s, stopped his pickup truck and tried to convince them to “come on and get in,” according to police.

He was described as being white with dark brown hair and thick stubble on his face, and was wearing short-sleeve blue shirt and driving a mid-size gray pickup truck. He was last seen leaving the area westbound on East Cypress Avenue, police reported.

The girls ran to a building near Sixth Street, where they flagged down the police officers.

Burbank police encouraged anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at (818) 238-3255.
