Those oversized signs are blight

Councilman Ara Najarian recently remarked — and I paraphrase — that Glendale, especially on Glenoaks Boulevard, is beginning to resemble East L.A. because of oversized signs. Although perhaps he should not have referred to another city for comparison, the councilman was absolutely correct (“Najarian apologizes to East L.A. residents for sign comment,” Feb. 1).

I, too, have noticed a plethora of neon and oversized signs before I read the councilman’s comments. These signs represent just how blight begins to destroy a neighborhood.

I am grateful that Najarian noticed this blight. He apologized.

Now, please, Najarian, continue to speak up for us — your constituents.
