Griem’s rants bolster atheism

Share

While I always appreciate an atheist perspective on the question of the week in the “In Theory” section, I must admit that, frequently, the biggest advertisements for the merits of atheism are the venomous and bigoted rants of the Rev. Bryan Griem.

His screed on Feb. 19 for “Should the military test spirituality?” only preaches to the choir of the vindictive and hateful. The basic inhumanity of his position is why many of us, at a young age, began to question religion in the first place.

Unlike his fellow clergy, his writing betrays not a trace of charity. Every Sunday, the world is a little more impoverished because of the mean spirit of Griem.
