Officers from the Glendale Police Department’s Traffic Bureau were recognized Thursday by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for their efforts in cracking down on motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol.

The officers, along law enforcement personnel from other agencies, were acknowledged at the Los Angeles County Law Enforcement Recognition ceremony and DUI seminar in Montebello.

The Police Department established a DUI team in January to combat intoxicated driving in Glendale, logging hundreds of arrests.

The officials patrol on certain days and times in neighborhoods with the most DUI traffic-related issues.

The team made at least 70 DUI arrests in February, according to police. So far this year, police have arrested 223 motorists on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
