Burbank firefighters were forced to use the Jaws of Life on Saturday to extricate a woman from her car after it was struck by a motorist who was allegedly driving drunk.

The collision, which occurred at Vanowen and Valley streets shortly after 6 p.m., pinned the woman inside her sedan, prompting firefighters to peel pack the roof to get her out. She reportedly suffered at least one broken leg and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the other car -- identified by police as Richard Wakefield, 54, of Castic -- was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
