Two men and a woman who allegedly led police on a chase into Atwater Village today after burglarizing a home in an upscale West Glendale neighborhood have been detained, officials said.

A witness spotted one of them running about 1:37 p.m. from a home on the 800 block of Cumberland Road and enter a silver Infiniti SUV, which fled the area, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. The home burglary alarm was activated, he said.

The witness obtained a license plate number and called police, who tracked the plate to a rental car, Lorenz added.

Officers from the Special Enforcement Detail, who were monitoring the area, spotted the SUV and tried to pull it over, but the group instead engaged officers in a pursuit on the Golden State (5) Freeway before exiting on Fletcher Drive in Los Angeles, where one of the men jumped out, Lorenz said.

The SUV eventually stopped in an Atwater Village neighborhood on Ferncroft Road, where police arrested the remaining two, Lorenz said.

Officers set up a perimeter in the Los Angeles neighborhood while a police helicopter searched for the third man, police said. He was spotted running and trying to hide in between a fence and wall, Lorenz said.

He allegedly engaged police in a foot pursuit but was eventually detained in the 3500 block of Madera Avenue.

Special Enforcement Detail officers have been monitoring east and west Glendale neighborhoods due to a recent string of residential burglaries.

Police arrested four men on Tuesday after they allegedly burglarized an East Glendale home before leading police on a vehicle and foot chase that eventually prompted a massive manhunt near ABC-TV and Disney studios.

“Just because we got four the other day doesn’t mean we are done,” Lorenz said.
