Staples, HP team up for free electronics disposal drop-off

Share

Staples is kicking off a nationwide free electronics recycling program, with local stores accepting all types of office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers and fax machines, for proper disposal.

In association with HP, the program lets customers bring their equipment to service desks at Staples stores any day during regular business hours. The equipment will be transported to a Staples distribution center, where it will later be taken to a recycling processing center.

In addition to computer and office equipment, Staples is also accepting mobile phones, GPS devices, MP3 players, digital camcorders and digital cameras.

“We recently celebrated reaching our goal of recycling 2 billion pounds of electronic products and HP supplies since 1987,” said Gabi Zedimayer, vice president of sustainability and social innovation for HP, in a statement. “Our collaboration with Staples will build upon this achievement and focus on increasing electronics recycling in all states.”
