Driver in tow-truck chase out on bail

A Van Nuys man who led police on a 2 1/2-hour slow-speed pursuit in a tow truck was free on bail Wednesday.

Ambartsum Sarkisyan, 31, was released from jail in Van Nuys early Wednesday after posting the $50,000 bail. He has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French said.

The pursuit began Tuesday after Sarkisyan allegedly got into a dispute with officers at the scene of an accident in Van Nuys. At some point in the argument, Sarkisyan allegedly got into the tow truck and attempted to hit the officer with his vehicle before driving off, French said.
