Woman’s purse stolen on Brand contained green card, pay checks

Police are asking for the public’s help after a woman allegedly was robbed Wednesday afternoon on Brand Boulevard.

The woman, who works as a housekeeper, was walking to a Wells Fargo Bank branch at about 3:20 p.m. when two men approached her from behind, according to Glendale Police Department reports.

One of the men grabbed her arm and the purse from her right shoulder. They told her, “Don’t move and don’t act scared,” according to reports.

The housekeeper told police she didn’t struggle with the men because she was afraid.

One man allegedly removed her purse from her shoulder and fled with the other suspect.

The housekeeper continued walking to the bank and didn’t try to look for the men, according to reports.

Her purse contained a California identification card, an alien registration “green” card, a Social Security card, a credit card, house keys, $300 in cash and four pay checks totaling $515.

She didn’t report the robbery until 9:33 p.m., when her daughter convinced her to talk to police.

The first man was described as Latino, 25 to 35 years old and 5 foot 7. He had short brown hair, a “pot belly” and was wearing a blue shirt and jeans. The other man was described as Latino, 19 to 20 years old and 5 foot 2 with short brown hair. He wore a dark blue, long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

Nine robberies have occurred throughout the city so far this month, according to a crime reporting database.

Robberies are down from 28 at this time last year to 25 so far this year, according the Glendale Police Department’s monthly statistics.
