Power restored to Glendale neighborhood where plane crashed

Crews have restored power to hundreds of customers in the North Glendale neighborhood where a small plane crashed Monday night, a city spokesman said.

The plane took out three power poles when it crashed shortly after 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of Glenwood Road. The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the single-engine Cessna, was treated for his injuries and has since been released.

The outage initally affected more than 2,000 customers.

Streets are also starting to reopen. The closures included: Glenwood Road from Highland to Grandview, and all intersecting streets within that stretch for one block in either direction.

City officials have asked parents with students at Mark Keppel Elementary, Toll Middle or Hoover High schools to approach using Pacific Avenue.

Officials have also asked residents to not touch any crash debris, but to instead call police at (818) 548-4911 so that it can be retrieved as evidence for the National Transportation Safety Board, which has jurisdiction over the investigation.
