An 84-year-old Glendale man who was reported missing to police nearly three weeks ago has been found alive. Turns out, he took an unannounced trip to his native Puerto Rico, his son said.

For 18 days, Euscady Torres was visiting friends in his hometown in Puerto Rico, his son, Bob Torres, said in an email.

“For whatever reason, he did not want anyone to know his whereabouts,” Bob Torres said.

Upon growing homesick, the elder Torres returned to Glendale.

Euscady Torres disappeared June 4 from his Glendale home, prompting his family to ask police and the public for help in tracking him down, especially out of concern for his many medical ailments.

Euscady Torres, who walks with a cane due to his prosthetic left leg, suffers from memory loss and requires medication for diabetes and heart problems.
