Car crashes into Glendale home, forces temporary street closure

Share

The intersection of Bel Aire Drive and Western Avenue in Glendale was briefly closed to traffic Thursday after a gas pipe broke when a motorist lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the front of a home, officials said.

The motorist, whose identity wasn’t immediately released, was speeding about 10:35 a.m. west on the 1700 block of Bel Air Drive, drove through a stop sign and lost control of her vehicle as she tried to turn onto Western Avenue, according to Glendale police.

Her vehicle struck a gas meter and caused minor exterior damage to a corner home, said Glendale Fire Battalion Chief Greg Godfrey.

No one inside the home was hurt, but the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Glendale Adventist Medical Center for treatment, he added.
