Fire sparked near Glendale homes is quickly extinguished
A small fire on Wednesday that briefly threatened hillside homes on Deermont Road was quickly extinguished, officials said.
A Los Angeles City Fire Department helicopter made several water drops on the fire, which was contained to less than an acre in the 1900 block of Deermont Road, said Glendale Fire Battalion Chief Greg Godfrey.
The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. after it started in juniper bushes near a home, he said.
Firefighters from Glendale, Pasadena and Burbank fire departments battled the blaze to keep it from spreading to nearby homes, Godfrey said.
The fire was knocked down about 15 minutes after crews arrived. Firefighters remained at the scene for clean up work Wednesday evening.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
