Glendale police screen nearly 800 vehicles during DUI checkpoint

Nine motorists were arrested Friday during a sobriety checkpoint in Glendale on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

Nearly 800 vehicles were stopped during the checkpoint on Central Avenue and Sanchez Drive, according to Glendale police.

Of the vehicles stopped, police found four motorists were drunk driving while another five drivers were under the influence of drugs, according to Sgt. Rich Phillips.

Officers conducted 30 field sobriety tests and towed eight vehicles. They also made a narcotics-related arrest.

Five other motorists were cited for driver’s license offenses, police said.
