Police are searching for a 15-year-old girl who went missing about a week ago after running away.

Family members and police have posted fliers for Meleny Guerrero, who disappeared Aug. 21 after she got out of her mother’s idling car at the intersection of Colorado Street and Brand Boulevard and ran away, officials said.

Meleny, who ran toward a nearby shopping center, has not returned to her home in the 1200 block of East Harvard Street.

She was likely not carrying cash and her cell phone.

It marks the fifth time she has ran away from home, but those incidents were not reported to police, officials said. In all of the incidents, Meleny never told her family where she went.

She is described as 5 foot 2 inches tall, 115 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.

Meleny was last seen wearing a dark blue YMCA T-shirt, white sweatpants and black flip-flop sandals.

Anyone with details about Meleny’s whereabouts was encouraged to call police Detective Steve Corrigan at (818) 548-3106, or the department’s 24-hour line at (818) 548-4911.
