Police helicopters, classic cars and the latest in electric and hybrid vehicles will share the streets of South Pasadena Sunday, as the city hosts the annual Cruz’n for Roses fundraiser, the South Pasadena Clean-Air Car Show and Green-Living Expo and the South Pasadena Police and Fire departments open house.
More than 300 hot rods and classic cars will line Mission Avenue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the car show, a fundraiser for the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee. Famous cars expected to be on hand include a couple of James Bond’s rides, Austin Powers’ “Shaguar” and Gen. Lee from “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
The Clean-Air Car Show takes place at the same time, at the South Pasadena Unified School District parking lot, 1020 El Centro St. It will feature cutting-edge cars from Mecedes-Benz, Nissan and Chevrolet, as well as home appliances and products. The event is sponsored by South Pasadena in partnership with the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
The police and fire open house features a demonstration rescue, a visit with K-9 officers, helicopter landings and takeoffs, an impaired-driver test and the Los Angeles County “Quaky Shaky” house offering lessons in earthquake preparedness. The event takes place at the police department headquarters, adjacent to City Hall at 1422 Mission St.
