A 33-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested early Monday when a police dog found him hiding in a shed after trying to break into a home, officials said.

The man, Jason Crowder, was taken into custody about 6:40 a.m. on suspicion of burglarizing a home in the 1000 block of Davis Avenue, according to Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Crowder allegedly climbed up on a home balcony and was attempting to pry open a sliding door when the home’s resident saw him and called police, Lorenz said.

Once he realized the resident was home, Crowder allegedly jumped off the balcony and tried to hide from police.

But officers had already arrived and saw Crowder running from the home, police said.

Officers set up a perimeter at Davis Avenue and San Fernando Road. Burbank police, a helicopter and police dog took part in the search.

Crowder was eventually found in the shed in the 1000 block of Rosedale Avenue, police said.
