Rain to let up Tuesday, return for the weekend

A cold front moving through Ventura and Los Angeles counties brought the overnight showers Monday is expected to linger until late Tuesday morning, after which dry, but cold, period should take hold for much of the week.

After the rain moves out, gusty winds are expected across much of the region during the rest of the day. A high-wind warning is in effect for mountain areas in Los Angeles County, which could see gusts up to 65 mph, Rich Thompson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told The Times.

The Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys, along with the Santa Monica Mountains, could see winds between 35 mph and 50 mph.

For the rest of the week, expect clear skies, but daytime highs won’t get much past 60 degrees in the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena region, according to the weather service.

On Saturday, another weather system is expected to move in, bringing at least a 20% chance of rain through the weekend.
