A casual, sit-down Vietnamese-centric restaurant is now open adjacent to what will soon be a completely renovated entrance to the Glendale Galleria.

Called 9021pho, chef Kimmy Tang, a partner on the project, is well-known in the culinary world for her unique, health-conscious approach. And the restaurant fulfills the mall’s goal of finding a unique vendor for such a prominent location.

“You can get lots of burgers and fries everywhere,” said Shoshanna Puccia, senior marketing manager for the Galleria. “I think we’re offering something to our customers that they’re looking for and certainly what we’re looking for.”

The Galleria location is the fourth 9021pho — which features French and California twists on its menu — in the Los Angeles area.

Greg Aghamanoukian, president of 9021pho Restaurant LLC, said mixing French touches with Vietnamese dishes is a natural fit because Vietnam was once a French colony.

“A lot of French cuisine has made its way into Vietnamese cuisine,” he said.

The new restaurant will eventually have 1,500 square feet of patio dining, and boasts a “garden wall” — complete with its own irrigation system — where different herbs and peppers are grown and then used in the restaurant’s dishes.

Victoria’s Secret, which is currently located on the Galleria’s second floor adjacent to Target, is slated to open on the other side of the new mall entrance, Puccia said.

The two businesses, she added, will “enhance the mall’s new entrance.”

“Our goal is to provide the best experience for our customers,” she said.
