Man rips cellphone from Glendale woman’s hands as she checks messages on the street

A man who was a passenger in a red Honda jumped out of the car and ripped a new cellphone from the hands of a woman as checked her messages on a street in Glendale Monday.

The woman was walking at about 5 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Verdugo Road when she noticed a 1990s red Honda following her, according to Glendale police.

As she continued walking and checking messages on her cellphone, a man suddenly came from behind and snatched the phone from her hands, police said.

As the Honda followed behind the man, she ran toward her home and called police.

She told officers that she recognized the man as a passenger seated inside the Honda.

She described him as Latino with short black hair, in his mid-20s and 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build, police said.
