Rockefeller Impostor: Defense and prosecution rest in San Marino murder trial

UPDATE: German-born Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter was found guilty Wednesday of murdering his landlady’s adult son and burying his body in the backyard of a San Marino home.

Gerhartsreiter, 52, faces a maximum life sentence for the first-degree murder conviction.

John Sohus and his wife, Linda, disappeared in 1985, Gerhartsreiter lived in their guest house.

Sohus’ remains were discovered in 1994, wrapped in plastic and left several feet underground.

By that time, Gerhartsreiter had moved to the East Coast. Authorities said he is a con man with several aliases, who went by the name Christopher Crowe, then later, posted as a member of the billionaire family and New England high society Clark Rockefeller.
